Verizon outages reported in the last 24 hours

Introduction

Verizon outages are having issues this morning. DownDetector.com, a website that monitors outages, reported more than 1,000 reports of problems with Verizon’s Internet service in the last 24 hours. Most of those reports are from Florida, New York, and California; however, we’ve also seen some information from other parts of the country, like Maryland.

Verizon outages were reported Thursday.

  • Verizon outages were reported Thursday.
  • The first outage started at 7:00 a.m. and lasted until 9:00 a.m., affecting all United States and Canada users.
  • The second outage started at 11:00 a.m. and lasted until 1:00 p.m., affecting all United States and Canada users.
  • At 3 p.m., another Verizon customer reported an outage on their home internet connection (the same one my family uses). Still, thankfully it only lasted about 15 minutes before they could get back online again!

Nearly 1,000 people were reporting problems with the service on DownDetector.com.

Most of these reports are from the U.S. but come from other countries, including Australia and Canada. The most common problem reported is an Internet connection failure or a lost Wi-Fi connection, followed by issues related to VoIP services such as Skype and Google Hangouts (which Verizon owns).

Problems are mainly in the U.S., including California, New York, and Florida.

The Verizon outage is not widespread, but it’s affecting many people. According to a report from Mashable, the problem is mainly in California and New York:

  • California: The Verizon service outage affects Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco.
  • New York City: Customers reported issues with their Internet connections at 2 p.m., according to CNN Money’s live blog on Twitter.

Verizon is experiencing issues today, as over half of the outages are related to an Internet connection.

The company said problems are mainly in the U.S., including California, New York, and Florida.

The outage map shows that most people who have tried to access the internet from their phones since 8 a.m., Eastern Time (9 a.m., Pacific Time) have been unable to do so due to a loss of service at Verizon Wireless towers across America’s east coast—including parts of New Jersey and New York City itself.[/FONT]

Most of these outages are in the U.S. and related to internet connection issues (though I’ve also seen some reports that it’s just a general outage).
